May is Mental Health Awareness month; how are you taking care of your mental health?
It is has been proven that women have a higher chance of experiencing mental health problems. Mental health incorporates emotional, psychological, spiritual, and social wellbeing. Also, it can potentially affect a person's self-esteem and social interaction. The National Alliance on Mental Illness estimated that approximately "50% of lifetime mental health conditions begin by age 14 and 75% begin by age 24" (NAMI).
Here are some things to maintain healthy wellbeing:
Journaling: A self-discovery journal will allow you to reveal new ideas and potentials as a way to better your persona.
Breathing Techniques: Practicing the 4-7-8 breathing technique to reach a state of relaxation and a tranquil mindset. To execute this breathing exercise, one must breathe in for four seconds, hold your breath for seven seconds, and exhale for eight seconds.
Pause and Slow Down: Give yourself an hour to escape from reality and concentrate on yourself. Put your phone down, sis, and do something that makes you happy.
